How To Buy A Cap

A cap is a statement you make to the world, about your team affiliation, about your hobbies, or about your style. There are hundreds of variations of caps on the market from which to choose.

Types of caps

Cap styles run the gamut from the traditional baseball cap to the Gilligan cap. Choosing the proper one for you depends on your style.

Fitted

  • Fitted caps are the traditional caps like the Major League Baseball players wear
  • They are usually made of 100% wool with a structured front and a higher profile
  • Fitted caps are sized to your head

Adjustable

  • Adjustable caps are the most popular caps today because they can be adjusted to fit any size head
  • They are made with many different materials including wool, cotton, and mesh
  • They also have many different types of closure systems including plastic snaps, leather straps with a buckle, and velcro

Unstructured

  • Unstructured caps look like a traditional baseball cap, but with a soft front that sits lower on the head for a more casual look
  • They are usually available as adjustable caps

Visors

  • Visors are a cap minus the top, they look like a headband with a brim
  • They are usually adjustable, with a rigid brim to shade your eyes
  • They are also good for wearing in hot weather because the top of your head is open, but be careful of the sun's rays

Bucket

  • Some people call this a Gilligan cap because it resembles the old cap worn by the title character on Gilligan's Island
  • Bucket caps come in a variety of fabrics and general sizes which include small, medium, large, and extra large

  • Types of closures include plastic, Velcro, fabric snaps and leather bands

Embroidery

  • Embroidery is the stitching that decorates the cap, usually in the front but can be anywhere

Increase Your Business through College Marketing

Naturally, the goal of any business is to increase their business and grow. In order to exceed previous growth, you need to reach out to new markets. For many businesses, this means that you?re going to have to include a college marketing strategy so that you can reach the new college students and graduates that become buyers each and every year. Because the college market is always growing (old targets become adults and new college students take their place) you need to work on gen y advertising and take advantage of this growing market.

Today?s generation is more in tune to the needs of the world than ever before. Because of this, they prefer to use companies that are ecologically responsible or globally responsible for other people. This is an excellent way to make your business more appealing to the younger generation, but you?re going to have to ensure that they know that you support a worthy cause, which you can do by including cause related marketing campaigns into your marketing strategy. This is a type of marketing that uses your charity work as the basis for your campaign.

One creative way to market your products and your services in a way that will appeal to generation Y is to use CampusAuction. This is an auction website that is associated with over 200,000 colleges around the country. Companies donate products to the auction site, students bid on the products and then the proceeds from the auction goes to charity. This makes your business appear to be altruistic to potential buyers. What?s more, you are now targeting customers who are already in the market for what you sell. Those that didn?t win the auction may come to you to make their purchase.

Sometimes you have to give a little to get a lot and that?s what CampusAuction can do for you. Instead of spending thousands or hundreds of thousands of dollars on advertisements that college students don?t watch, you donate a few products and then let them be your advertisements for you. This type of college marketing is unique and has proven to provide results again and again!

Augmented reality offers a new layer of intrigue

IF YOU ever come across a photograph of communist-era East Berlin, or modern Pyongyang in North Korea, the cityscapes look drab and featureless. Billboards, advertising hoardings, neon signs, shopfronts and graffiti are conspicuous by their absence.

To future eyes, that is how drab today's London and New York will appear. Not because of an even greater proliferation of advertising and street art but because of an in-vogue technology called augmented reality (AR), through which digital information and graphics are overlaid onto the physical world.

If predictions come true, towns and cities will soon be teeming with digital annotations floating over landmarks, businesses and people. You will need AR glasses to see them, but they are likely to be as commonplace as cellphones.

Visions of this future promoted by the likes of Google, which is launching a pair of AR glasses this year, tend to have a clean, corporate gloss. Good luck to them: as AR becomes common, everyday people will want to add their own comments, images and videos. Some have already begun to use smartphone apps to tag "digital graffiti" onto the physical world (see "Reality respray: The hidden digital world uncloakedMovie Camera"). Some of these offerings are useful; others are aesthetic, trivial or personal. Many are angry, subversive or offensive. In other words, all the virtues and vices of the social web are being daubed onto the physical world, with interesting and challenging consequences.

Consider the implications for business. Today an anti-capitalist would be arrested for scribbling a slogan on the wall of a McDonald's, but they are free to draw it digitally. Disgruntled customers could plaster company buildings with complaints; hacktivists could digitally "occupy" the corporate headquarters of their targets.

Equally, an extremist could post slogans on a graveyard or government building, or a protester might decide to reveal the location of an animal-testing lab. Individuals are not immune - people could be digitally tagged without their knowledge. The tag could be a compliment. Equally possibly it could be an insult or embarrassing photo. Electing not to wear the glasses will be as effective as closing your eyes and wishing it would go away.

Negotiating our way through the rights and wrongs of this while protecting free speech, privacy and reputation will be tortuous. How should society respond? It is not hard to envisage corporate and political powers demanding control, censorship and punishment of "offenders". They may well get it; owners of AR apps may concede that some content crosses a line, and remove it. Yet the law, with its infamous inability to keep pace with technology, will provide a blunt tool at best.

Laws must be upheld, of course, but if we have learned anything from internet history, bottom-up control is likely to be more democratic and effective. Already the users of AR apps "upvote" useful or funny annotations. Unpleasant or abusive ones tend to languish largely unread.

The internet has made the world harder to control and contain but it has also made it immensely more interesting. The same is likely to be true of AR. Let's embrace it. Few people would choose to live in Pyongyang over London or New York.

Egypt Elections 2012: Run-Off Set Between Muslim Brotherhood, Mubarak's Last Prime Minister

CAIRO -- Partial results from Egypt's first genuinely competitive presidential elections announced Friday showed the candidate of the powerful Muslim Brotherhood leading with a narrow edge in a five-way race.

This is likely to bring Mohammed Morsi to run-off elections scheduled for June 16-17 but leaves the question wide open as to whether he will win.

Egyptians voted Wednesday and Thursday to choose their first president after last year's popular uprising that ousted ruler Hosni Mubarak.

Contending for second place are Mubarak's last prime minister Ahmed Shafiq, moderate Islamist Abdel-Moneim Abolfotoh and leftist Hamdeen Sabahi, whose surprise last-minute surge brought a new element to a contest that looked like it was going to pit Islamists against former regime officials.

Across the country, election workers cracked open the transparent ballot boxes ? sealed by serial-numbered plastic bands to ensure they had not been tampered with ? and began working their way through the paper ballots. Ballots from 18 of Egypt's 27 governorates had been counted by mid-morning on Friday.

The Brotherhood is hoping for a presidential victory to seal its political domination of Egypt, which would be a dramatic turnaround from the decades it was repressed under Mubarak. It already holds nearly half of parliament after victories in elections late last year.

Results showed drops in the group's popularity since then, with the ballots cast for Morsi significantly fewer than the number the Brotherhood's party received in parliamentary elections. In several provinces, Morsi came in second or third place.

Many Egyptians who said they have voted before for the Brotherhood said they were let down by the group's hunger for power and poor performance in parliament. However, the group has a formidable ability to mobilize voters, and it was unclear how many disappointed Brotherhood voters chose another candidate or just did not cast a ballot.

The group's political arm said in a statement that Morsi is going to enter a runoff with Shafiq, which means another round of highly polarizing campaigning, since the Mubarak-era official is strongly opposed by leaders of the protest movement which were behind the revolution.
