House Republicans have decided to embrace a smaller, step-by-step approach to immigration reform and not support the comprehensive plan passed by the Senate.
Rep. Doug Lamborn, R-Colo., said "there's almost unanimous agreement among the Republicans that the Senate bill is fatally flawed."
That bill includes measures for border security, but House Republican leaders say the White House can't be trusted to secure the border.
"There was pretty strong consensus that the border has to be secured before anything else," Rep. Buck McKeon, R-Calif., chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, said, even before a path to citizenship.
House GOP members have ideas for their own immigration reform measures, but there's still no clear timetable for a plan.
