Bosnia's New Coalition Changes Federation Parliament Chiefs ...

Deputies of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, the Alliance for a Better Future, SBB, the Croatian Democratic Union, HDZ and its sister party HDZ 1990 - and two MPs of two small parties - held a session at the House of Representatives, one of two chambers of parliament in the Federation entity.

The session on June 26 was not officially called by the President, Denis Zvizdic, a member of the Party of Democratic Action, SDA, but was led by Mira Grgic, the Chamber's Vice-President, from the SDP.

MPs then voted to dismiss Zvizdic of the SDA and Stanko Primorac, the Vice-President of the parliament, a member of the Croatian Party of Right, HSP.

The head of the SDP caucus in the entity parliament, Jasenko Selimovic, said the changes reflected the changes in the ruling coalition. ?

?We are asking Prime Minister Nermin Niksic to start dismissing ministers from the parties which are not part of the new coalition,? Selimovic said. ?We are all aware of the new coalition of the four parties," he added.

He was referring to the new coalition in Bosnia between the SDP, the SBB and the two HDZs, replacing the coalition between the SDP, the SDA and some smaller Croat parties - namely the HSP and the People's Party Work for Progress, NSRZB.

Their ministers are now expected to leave government since the new parliamentary majority was formed.

At Tuesday's session a new leadership was appointed with Fehim Skaljic, of the SBB, as Parliament's President, and Tomo Vidovic, of the SDP, as Vice-President.

The 58 lawmakers present also called on the President of the Federation entity, Zivko Budimir, of the HSP, and the Vice-President, Mirsad Kebo, of the SDA, to resign.

SDA lawmakers said they would ask the Constitutional Court of the Federation to declare the June 26 session against the constitution and restore the old leadership.

Bosnia's latest political turbulence started on May 31 when the SDP and the SDA ended their coalition after the SDA refused to support the 2012 state budget.

The SDP then terminated its coalition with the SDA at all levels of government and demanded that the Prime Minister dismiss the SDA ministers from the state government.

The Prime Minister, Vjekoslav Bevanda, decided on Monday to dismiss SDA officials from the state government.

SBB chief Fahrudin Radoncic has already said he intends to take the post of Security Minister once the SDA minister is dismissed.

The State Defence Ministry is likely to go to the SDP and the position of Deputy Finance Minister to an SBB candidate.

Even when a homeowner has equity in their home, they will not be able to borrow against all of it, as only eighty percent of the equity is the usual standard that lenders will allow.

Refinancing can be a complex process that involves a lot of paperwork and can take quite a long time so homeowners need to seriously consider it before embarking on it. A cash out refinance though can allow a homeowner to both change the terms of their mortgage and reduce their monthly payments, while giving them extra cash at closing to use on their home improvements.

Whichever one you choose will depend on what?s best for your situation, as all of them have very different terms and qualifications, and different benefits too. Lochte, Phelps advance in 200 free at US trials

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) ? Ryan Lochte and Michael Phelps stayed on course for their second showdown at the U.S. Olympic swimming trials on Tuesday. Janet Evans' first appearance in the meet was brief, with the 40-year-old former Olympic champion failing to advance to the 400 freestyle final.

Lochte qualified fastest in the 200-meter freestyle preliminaries, exploding off the final turn to take the lead and cruise into the wall at 1 minute, 48.14 seconds. He's the world champion in the event, having beaten Phelps for the title last year in Shanghai.

Charlie Houchin, a 24-year-old from Raleigh, N.C., who was 77th in the 200 free at the 2008 trials, was second-fastest at 1:48.15. Swimming in the heat before Lochte, Phelps qualified third at 1:48.31. He is the Olympic champion and world record holder.

Evans finished seventh in her heat at 4:21.49 ? 6.81 seconds behind 19-year-old winner Danielle Siverling ? and 80th overall. But Evans, who won the 400 free as one of her three golds at the 1988 Olympics, was merely using the event as a warm-up for the 800 free. She is a long shot in that grueling event after a 15-year absence from the sport.

"I wish I would've gone faster. I didn't feel very good," said Evans, who got big cheers when she was introduced during the race and after she climbed out. "It was nice to get the jitters out. I think that my 800 will be better."

Budding star Missy Franklin and two-time Olympic champion Natalie Coughlin advanced in the 100 backstroke prelims.

Lochte got the better of Phelps in their first final at trials when he won the 400 individual medley on Monday. Phelps finished second, and they both secured spots for London.

Phelps has set himself up for another eight-event program in London ? something he insisted he wouldn't do again after the Beijing Games.

"It's not an easy program, but we're going to try to do some things here," he said. "The biggest thing is really how I hold up all week. I was definitely happy with getting last night out of the way early. It wasn't the easiest race. But this morning felt pretty comfortable, so hopefully we can just keep everything rolling for the rest of the meet."

Can Phelps repeat his historic haul of eight golds?

"Anything can happen," he said. "You've got to be in the right place at the right time."

Lochte returned later for the 100 backstroke and qualified nearly a second behind fellow 2008 Olympian Matt Grevers. He touched in 52.94 to Lochte's 53.92.

Lochte was breathing hard coming off the deck after his double and he later scratched the event from his busy schedule to focus on the 200 free.

"The 100 back hurt worse than the 2 free," he said. "The 2 free was really just smooth."

Grevers, the 2008 Olympic silver medalist, wanted to see Lochte in the semifinals.

"The Olympics are all about racing the best in the world," he said. "I'd be sad if he wasn't in it because I'd know one of the best in the world would be missing out."

In the women's 400 free, Katie Hoff joined Evans on the sideline after finishing 20th in 4:13.08. Hoff won the event four years ago at trials ? one of her five victories that had her dubbed the female Phelps. Her coach, Paul Yetter, said she was feeling sick from something she ate.

Hoff has just the 200 free remaining to try to make her third straight Olympic team.

"I hope she'll be able to get herself eating today and feeling better," Yetter said. "I've never seen her look that white."

Allison Schmitt was the top qualifier in the 400 free at 4:05.60. Katie Ledecky, a 15-year-old from Bethesda, Md., was second at 4:05.78. Also advancing to Sunday's final were Chloe Sutton, Elizabeth Beisel and Kate Ziegler.

Swimming her first event of the eight-day meet, Franklin was the top qualifier in 59.54 seconds, easily moving the 17-year-old from Colorado into the evening semifinals.

"I had some first-race jitters," she said. "But I'm super, super happy with my time. It felt awesome."

Franklin saw the sign under the massive scoreboard above the pool as she stroked to the opposite end of the pool.

"It was U.S. Olympic Team. Talk about motivation. That helped me get my tempo up the last 25," she said. "I was nervous for my first race. But right now, I feel good."

Franklin led a quartet of teenagers who represent the U.S. future in the event. Rachel Bootsma, an 18-year-old from Minnesota, was second at 59.69, making her and Franklin the only women to go under 1 minute.

Elizabeth Pelton, an 18-year-old from Connecticut, was third at 1:00.55. Olivia Smoliga, a 17-year-old from suburban Chicago, was fourth-quickest at 1:00.66.

Coughlin advanced in fifth at 1:00.71. She was the first woman to break 1 minute in the event and formerly held the world record.

The top 16 in the semifinals move on to Wednesday's final, where only the top two earn berths for next month's Olympics.

World champion Rebecca Soni led the way in the 100 breaststroke, coming on strongly over the final 50 meters to win her prelim heat in 1:06.33.

Breeja Larson showed no nerves in her first Olympic trials, turning in the third-fastest time in the world this year to qualify second-quickest at 1:06.52. The sophomore at Texas A&M didn't start swimming competitively until age 17 in her hometown of Mesa, Ariz.

Jessica Hardy, who won the 100 breast at trials four years ago only to lose her spot on the Olympic team because of a failed doping test, was third at 1:07.25. Hardy served a one-year ban after an arbitration panel agreed with her contention that a tainted nutritional supplement was to blame for her positive test.

Still, she battled anger and depression during the fight to clear her name.

"This is the first time I felt like I can actually have a happy ending," she said. "I can relax and finally have fun and feel grateful."

Soni caught Hardy's time as she was waiting to come on deck.

Amanda Beard, the 1996 Olympic silver medalist in the 100 breast, qualified seventh for the evening semifinals. The 30-year-old mother of one is trying to make her fifth Olympic team, but the 100 is not her best event and she will have to pick up the pace to make the eight-woman final.

An increasing share of American businesses have no employees. ?That trend makes it difficult to understand what?s been happening to American entrepreneurship over the past 20 years. Because non-employer businesses are so numerous and so different from employer businesses, the sliding share of businesses with employees makes it difficult to compare apples-to-apples over time in the small business sector.

The most recent data provided by the Office of Advocacy of the U.S. Small Business Administration shows that, in 2010, 21.7 million U.S. businesses were without employees, while only 5.6 million had them. At 79 percent of all American companies, the characteristics of non-employers swamp the overall data.

But non-employers account for very little of the economic impact of small businesses. Non-employer businesses are virtually a rounding error in the measurement of business sales. The most recent Census Bureau data show that non-employer firms accounted for only 4 percent of business receipts in 2009. The average non-employer business generated less than $40,000 in annual sales in that year.

Similarly, data released by the Office of Advocacy of the Small Business Administration show that non-employers accounted for only 7 percent of capital expenditures by U.S. businesses in 2009, the most recent year reported. And, of course, non-employer businesses accounted for none of the country?s employment. ?The economic impact of non-employer businesses is so slight that the Census Bureau refrains from measuring employer and non-employer businesses together.

Here?s an example of why: In 2009, the average capital expenditure of businesses with employees was $177,000, while that for non-employers was only $3,500.

Combining the two businesses often leads to estimates that hide what?s going on in the economy. For instance, the number of people working for the average U.S. business declined from 4.8 in 1992 to 4.3 in 2009, suggesting that the size of American companies is shrinking.

However, that trend is actually an anomaly of the increasing share of non-employers, which increased from 73.4 percent of U.S. companies in 1992 to 79.5 percent in 2010. Employer businesses have actually grown since the early 1990s, with average size of an employer business increasing from 18.2 to 19.9 between 1992 and 2009.

Similarly, average capital expenditures of U.S. businesses declined a slight 4.9 percent in real terms between 1997 and 2009. The decline in average capital expenditures was a much scarier-looking 28.4 percent in inflation-adjusted terms over that period when all companies are measured. That?s because most of the decline in capital spending comes from the rising in the share of non-employer businesses.

Patterns like these suggest that we need to understand why fewer and fewer American entrepreneurs are starting businesses with employees. Without knowing the answer to that question, just interpreting the data on small business will be difficult.

Large waistlines are linked to increased mortality risk older people

ScienceDaily (June 25, 2012) ? Older people with large waistlines have a higher mortality rate than those with a slim waistline. This was shown in a new study conducted by the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden.

Coherent research has shown that being underweight is considerably more dangerous for the elderly than being overweight. A study at the Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, has now shown that large waist circumference is associated with the risk of increased mortality in the elderly.

30 scientific studies

An international team which includes researchers from the Sahlgrenska Academy has brought together data from a total of 30 scientific studies in order to identify risk factors associated with mortality in people aged 65 to 74 years.

Large waistline increases risk of death

The comprehensive study, published in the International Journal of Epidemiology, shows that older men and women who have a large waistline run an increased risk of death -- particularly due to cardiovascular disease -- irrespective of if their Body Mass Index is normal, low, or high.

The results, which were controlled for smoking and age, are based on a five-year follow-up of over 32,000 men and 25,000 women from more than ten countries.

Cardiovascular disease

An unhealthy large waistline is defined in the study as more than 102 centimeters (40 inches) in men and more than 88 centimeters (35 inches) in women. According to the results, a waist circumference of 132 centimeters (52 inches) in men, and 116 centimeters (46 inches) in women, was linked to a doubled risk of death. For cardiovascular death there was a doubling in risk at a waist circumference of 123 cm among men and 105 cm in women.

"People have long known that that a large waistline there is a strong link between disorders of glucose and fat metabolism in the body. The results provide a solid basis for showing that waistlines are an important factor that continues to have a significant effect on health even in the elderly," commented Professor Annika Rosengren, who participated in the study.

That idea is crazy enough to work, since a fully spec'd model will have an Ivy Bridge Intel Core i7-3920XM processor, 16GB of DDR3-1600 of RAM, a 240GB SSD, 750GB Hybrid drive or 1TB HDD, and on-board NVIDIA GT 650M graphics running at 850MHz. The 1366 x 768 screen might be a touch undersized for gamers, but they could let that slide since the processor can be safely overclocked up to a decent 3.8GHz. As for business pros, the company claims the Monster could be used as a portable server, run multiple VMs of Windows and Linux, or high-end engineering apps like MatLab. As usual with Eurocom, you can configure the system in dozens of ways, including matte or glossy screen, Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge processors and multiple RAM or disk setups. Pricing and delivery dates weren't given, but if it's up your alley, check the PR and your wallet -- or hit up Ned in accounting.

PETALUMA, Calif. (AP) ? A Chinese crested's short snout, beady eyes and white whiskers earned it the title of World's Ugliest Dog at the annual contest in Northern California on Friday.

Competing for fame, $1,000 and a year's worth of dog cookies, Mugly won the honor by beating out 28 other ugly dogs from around the world.

The 8-year-old rescue dog from the United Kingdom will also be invited for a photo shoot and will receive a VIP stay at the local Sheraton.

"I couldn't speak when they announced Mugly's name," said Bev Nicholson, the dog's owner. "I didn't know which way to look. I was shaking as much as the dog."

It's not the first time Mugly has been recognized for his unattractiveness. Nicholson said he was named Britain's ugliest dog in 2005.

The contest at the Marin-Sonoma Fairgrounds gets worldwide attention, with reporters and camera crews from around the world traveling to Petaluma, about 40 miles north of San Francisco.

Organizers say the competing dogs are judged for what they term their "natural ugliness in both pedigree and mutt classes."

Mugly's victory was the latest for a Chinese crested. Last year's winner, Yoda, was a Chinese crested and Chihuahua mix.

'Swamp People' star arrested in Florida

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) ? One of the stars of the TV reality show "Swamp People" has been arrested in Florida on domestic violence charges.

Noces Joseph LaFont Jr. ? who is known as "Trapper Joe" on TV ? was arrested Wednesday by Orange County Sheriff's deputies.

According to an arrest affidavit, LaFont was arguing with his girlfriend while staying at a hotel near Disney World and tried to burn her with a lit cigarette. The report also says he punched the woman with a closed fist.

LaFont, who is from Louisiana, was charged with battery and assault. He was booked into the Orange County Jail, posted bail and released. It's unclear whether he has retained an attorney.

"Swamp People" is a History channel show that follows Cajuns who hunt alligators.
